The monies requested from the Yakima Valley Community Foundation where spent in the summer of 2015 to place 5 youth in jobs in the Lower Yakima Valley. There is funding for 10 more youth to be placed in non-profit organizations during the summer of 2016. The delays in the expenditure occurred because there was no prior relationship with the business community and the service clubs in the Lower Yakima Valley. We had a relationship with another non-profit organization that in the past was the lead for the Sunnyside area. After learning the funding was only for jobs and not for administration, they decided to pull their support. This was very unfortunate because we were heavily reliant on their support. We tried to schedule another job fair with the help of Sunnyside United/Unidos, but we were not successful and determined it would be best to wait for Spring of 2016 and start a committee in the Sunnyside area and pull community leaders from the surrounding areas that all ready have established relationships in the community and explain the program. We had also set to do three Youth Open Space forums and we are currently working on scheduling the forums in the Lower Yakima Valley.

SYV accomplished some of the deliverables in the in the 2015 period and look forward to accomplishing the rest of the deliverables in the summer of 2016.
