For Grant Applicants

The Yakima Valley Community Foundation is uniquely positioned to bring resources together, including our own Founders Fund, to make investments through grants in our community.

It Takes More Than Money to Make Change

We've learned it takes more than good intention and money to make change. We support solutions, services and programs that include input and guidance from those impacted.  Communities know best what will work for their culture, their location and their situation.

We believe communities are best served when systems are designed to place their needs at the center and when organizations partner and network resources instead of duplicating them.

We seek to nurture relationships with grantees, and to engage our community for greater understanding and implementation of solutions. The knowledge gathered is used to identify potential partners, garner support, and to advocate for funding, system changes and innovative solutions for our community.

Our grant selection process allows us to support some of the most effective and innovative organizations, including start-ups working in our region.  We encourage you to explore which grant opportunity may be suited for your organization.

Aggregation

Knowledge of our community and skill at partnering with grantees allows us to attract other funding by aggregating philanthropic capital, increasing knowledge of best practices and creating co-funding strategies that alter the resource landscape in the Valley.

Engagement

Engagement creates a relationship of common purpose that extends the reach of philanthropic capital. Engagement produces better results and improves the social productivity of philanthropic investment in our community. We believe it's people not just financial resources that make a difference.

Annual Grants

The Annual grant program is meant to be flexible to respond to the needs of the community funding between $250-$25,000. The areas of funding are basic needs, arts & culture, education, health & wellness, civic vitality, and the environment.

Sponsorship Grants

Sponsorships are designed for organizational events or projects. The maximum amount of a Sponsorship is $2,500. Sponsorship applications must be received 60 days prior to your event. Sponsorships are available year round subject to funding availability.

Strategic Grants

Yakima Valley Community Foundation makes long-term strategic investments (generally three years up to $50,000 annually) in organizations and projects working specifically to improve education, civic engagement and health and wellness, including social determinants of health in Yakima County.

No new applications will be accepted for Strategic Grants in 2020 as we work to improve our granting processes and increase equity. We'll be working to reduce the burden of paperwork and time on applicants, grantees and volunteers and making it easier for organizations without dedicated grant writing staff to apply and report.

IOur avaialble grant funds will be concentrated into the Annual Grant round for which we'll be accepting applications in the spring of 2020.
